We help cancer patients and their families when they need it the most
Who We Are
The Cancer Wellness Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to helping cancer patients. The Foundation is supported solely through the efforts and contributions of businesses, organizations and individuals. Every dollar contributed to the Foundation is used in the Montgomery and Central Alabama area. That means your donations are used to help your family, friends, neighbors and co-workers. Donations are tax deductible as allowed by law.
The Cancer Wellness Foundation is a public charity committed to providing quality programs and services to cancer patients and their families.
What We Do
We ensure that patients have the transportation to get to life-saving treatments and doctor visits. We also advocate for the benefit of patients to ensure they receive the medications critical to their cancer care and provide nutritional counseling to help our patients keep up their strength as they wage the battles of their lives. These services are not duplicated by any other organization in the area.
Some organizations seek to fund cancer research; others focus on testing and early detection. The Cancer Wellness Foundation fills the gap in service provision once a cancer diagnosis has been made. We advocate for all patients regardless of their insurance status or income level.

Foundation Staff
Allyson Blankenship
Transportation Coordinator
Brief job description
I help patients with their need for transportation assistance. Our foundation offers gas vouchers for qualified patients who travel long distances to come to their appointments. For those patients who may not have a vehicle or anyone to transport them, I schedule actual transportation for them. I also assist patients with filing to Medicaid for their transportation reimbursement.

What is your favorite part of working at Cancer Wellness Foundation?
My favorite thing about working for CWF is the rewarding feeling of knowing that what we do truly makes a difference in someone’s life. Some of our patients do not know how they will afford to travel to their multiple, sometimes daily, appointments. It is very rewarding to help them with that burden and allow them to focus on their cancer care without worrying about the transportation expense.
What is something you feel most people don’t know about CWF?
People are often surprised by how far many of our patients in rural areas travel to receive their cancer treatments. Some patients travel two hours one way! We are thankful to have over 50 gas stations who partner with us in the River Region to support our gas voucher program.

What is your favorite part of working at Cancer Wellness Foundation?
I love that we get to play a small role in assisting patients on their journey to recovery. We are able to step in and eliminate the fear of having to choose between putting fuel in their vehicle to get to the cancer center for treatment and paying their water bill or having to decide between buying chemo meds and paying the mortgage. We are giving direct patient support and services to cancer patients throughout central Alabama.
What is something you feel most people don’t know about CWF?
We serve patients from 32 counties in Central Alabama, not just the river region. Some patients travel more than two hours one-way, several times a week for treatment.
Fun fact about you
I love to travel. So far, I have vacationed in 13 different countries and visited 24 different states. I hope to add new countries and states to my list soon!

Work closely with executive director to ensure the smooth day to day operation of the CWF. How long have you worked for Cancer Wellness Foundation?
I have worked for the CWF since February of 2020.
What is your favorite part of working at Cancer Wellness Foundation?
I love working with the patients and getting them the assistance they need. While the majority of my position involves the day to day paperwork and account management of the foundation and not necessarily daily patient contact – I know my part in the keeping the foundation on financial track and organized record wise would negatively impact the number of patients we could serve or provide assistance to.
What is something you feel most people don’t know about CWF?
That we are a SMALL office team of 5 “go getters.” Each of us brings many unique talents to the table. It’s almost as if we are individual puzzle pieces that when put together make a strong team that gets the job done so we can take care of the patients we serve.
