Help Us Raise Awareness & Funds

Dr. Tanjula Petty

I am both excited and honored to represent the Cancer Wellness Foundation of Central Alabama through the Women in Blue campaign in hopes of bringing awareness not only to colon cancer, but all cancers.  I know personally the impact that a cancer diagnosis can have on one’s life, including their family.  It was just last March (2025) that I heard the words that no one wants to hear.  “You have breast cancer”. These words changed everything. I received this diagnosis after having a negative BRCA2 gene mutation test with a very low risk of getting breast cancer. In addition, I had recently had a clear mammogram.

My cancer was an aggressive form of breast cancer, which led me to receive sixteen rounds of aggressive chemotherapy, radiation, and a two-part surgery.  After a hard fight, I am now cancer-free.

I believe that God allows us to go through challenges and situations to help other people around us, in our circle of influence, and sometimes all over the world.  I recently authored a book titled Petty & Pink: Principles That Carried Me Through Breast Cancer, in which I recount my journey with the disease and the principles that helped me navigate this period of my life, including the challenges I faced and the insights I gained while undergoing diagnosis and treatment.

I aim to honor not only my own journey but also the experiences of my family, friends, colleagues, and associates who have been affected by this disease. By raising awareness and emphasizing the importance of regular screenings, I hope to make a positive impact in the fight against cancer.

As a part of the Women in Blue, I will be raising money in support of patients and families facing the challenge of a cancer diagnosis on behalf of the Cancer Wellness Foundation.

Please help me spread awareness and support a worthy cause by donating.
