Women in Blue | Jamie Brown

It’s always about God’s timing, you know? Carol has asked me many times about participating in the Women in Blue but this year, I said yes. Over the last 10 years, cancer has taken two of my family members: my dad’s sister passed away from Glioblastoma in 2014 and most recently, my dad from Esophageal cancer. I took him to the ER on September 29, 2022, and in October 2022, he received the diagnosis. On the late evening of December 20, 2022, he was promoted to another one of my guardian angels. During that short period of time, and under the tender care of Dr. Avery with the Montgomery Cancer Center in Prattville, I know he received the gentlest of care by angels on earth while he received treatments.
As God would have it, and He always does, he led me to the Heart of Alabama Food Bank last year. Very soon, we will be launching a pivotal program called Food as Medicine. Through amazing partnerships with the Montgomery Cancer Center – Baptist Health, ADPH, UAB, Alabama Kidney Foundation and Jackson Hospital, we will be able to provide nutritious food to those who have been diagnosed with certain conditions. Wow…how two parts of my worlds have collided into something beautiful.
I can’t help but think that my dad was the recipient of resources provided by the Cancer Wellness Foundation. As such, it’s an honor to be part of the 2025 Class of the Women in Blue! My hope is that you will support the efforts of this class of ladies to further impact the efforts to the Cancer Wellness Foundation. Won’t you join me?
