It is an honor to be selected as a Woman in Blue to benefit the Cancer Wellness Foundation supporting the memory and legacy of my father who we lost this summer after a long and hard -fought battle with cancer.

Dad was diagnosed TWENTY years ago, and we are so fortunate that we had so much time to live life to the fullest with him after receiving his news.  A cancer diagnosis can be so scary for anyone and their loved ones, but especially to those who may not have access to key things needed to help navigate a new reality.

Our family is grateful that Dad had great insurance and the means to pay for his transportation to get to his life-saving treatments and doctor visits. He was able to receive the medications and nutritional counseling to help him keep his strength during his battle.

With a new cancer being diagnosed every 30 seconds in the United States alone, what about those who aren’t as fortunate as my dad?

What about those who receive a diagnosis and don’t have the means for transportation to get to needed appointments, funds for needed medications, or even a close support system?

The Cancer Wellness Foundation fills in the service gap provisions for all in our community once a cancer diagnosis has been made, regardless of insurance status or income level.
