I am honored and grateful to be nominated as a participant in the 2026 Women in Blue campaign benefiting The Cancer Wellness Foundation of Central Alabama. The Cancer Wellness Foundation is a charitable organization dedicated to providing essential support and resources to patients facing cancer, including financial assistance, transportation services, and nutritional support.
Serving as a nurse practitioner at Montgomery Cancer Center allows me the privilege of providing direct, hands-on care to patients and their families throughout their cancer journey. This work is deeply meaningful to me, both professionally and personally. My faith in God continues to be the constant source to help provide strength, hope, and healing to so many patients that I see every day. As a melanoma cancer survivor in 2018, I have realized how important early detection of cancer is. Several of my family members have also received treatment and care at the Montgomery Cancer Center for various cancers, including breast cancer, lymphoma, glioblastoma, and metastatic neuroendocrine tumors. Having experienced cancer from the perspective of a patient, a family member, and a healthcare provider, I believe God guides us through every season of this journey, and each story is unique.
As a provider at the Montgomery Cancer Center, I have witnessed firsthand the comfort, compassion, and support the Cancer Wellness Foundation provides to so many of our patients and their families. Their mission reflects the love, service, and care that we are all called to show one another, especially during life’s most challenging times.
March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness month, which is why we wear blue. This campaign raises awareness and promotes the importance of early detection. Prior to my current role, I worked for several years as a gastroenterology nurse practitioner, where I saw the life-saving impact early screening can have.
